First full day in Singapore

Today was the first full day of the holiday and it’s very hot, even when it rains.

We started off today at the Botanic Gardens. Amy can’t help herself but taken thousands of photos so I’ll put a few on the bottom in a minute. The place was beautiful, including Margaret Thatcher’s orchid. I did take me a while to force her out of the gift shop though.

After that we went to six storey electrical shopping centre called Sim Lim Square. Load of stuff for the apple addict (why did I agree to that!!????). We managed to get Amy a new zoom lens for her camera which has meant even more photos. Great for zooming across the bay from the bedroom window to look at……………. historical land marks.

After too much walking and much carrying of expensive bought items we came back to the room for a sit down. We then spotted the Merlion, a mythical lion crossed with a mermaid that guards the bay. Fortunate we did spot it because we thought this was on an Island some distance from us and not 5 minutes drive.

From there we came back and then went on a trip to the Night Safari. This was great. Most of the rain forest animals in this part of the world are nocturnal so hence, night safari. Its on a electric tram which drives around looking at all sorts of animals including tigers, leopards and rhinos. No photos of this as it was dark. Just kidding, it’s slightly lit which meant we could see but not being allowed flash photography there aren’t many good ones.

Finally got back to the hotel now at 2330. Raffles has been delayed until tomorrow, but she’s not getting away from Singapore Slings!!!
