The second day of skiing started with a few creeky bones. The weather was once again unseasonably warm which meant the top of the mountain was icy and the bottom a little slushy. It was beautifully clear and sunny which did mean we could get some good photos.
In the morning we travelled the various parts of the mountain in a family snake with the boys technique continuing to improve. No unwanted visits to the piste side foliage today thankfully. I wasn’t long before lunch was calling back at the base station.
Harrison and Amy grabbed a quick selfie on the outside of the restaurant before we chose our meals. I went for the nachos which are pictured below, meant to be for sharing so I did a little of that and a bit more self consumption. It was predictable that chicken burgers were the food of choice for the boys with Callan hoovering up as many sweet potato fries as were on offer.
Prior to lunch we’d been skiing for about 3 hours which was enough for Amy and Callan. They settled down to drinks and warmth whilst Harrison and I headed for the Gondola. The picture below does have us waving out the window if you can just make it out.
At the top of the mountain we went to the viewing platform where you could see vast distances across New York State. Lake Placid itself is the u-shaped white section that is frozen and snow covered.
It was then a couple of top speed blasts down the side of the mountain. This is of course the only way to please Harrison, he likes to flash past slower skiers with his sense of adventure and flirt with danger leaving waves of snow and spray in his wake.
The video of this was too big to upload so instead I’ve gone for the triumphant pose as we returned back to the hotel.
One more ski day to go. The weather is meant to be changeable so hoping we can still get going.
