After the huge downpour yesterday, we thought there was a break in the white stuff. The first couple of hours this morning were brilliant. The pistes were beautifully prepared, the sun was sneaking through the clouds, there were occasional glimpses of snow capped mountains framed with cloud. We were flying down the moutains back towards France.
Amy got techy and used the crystal app to track our skiing. The red route on the map above is where we skied this morning, in all it was 11.3km.
Then the snow came again and this time it was a Blizzard!! The snow was so heavy about 15cm fell in around half an hour. We headed for the safety of a mountain restaurant and indulged in more coffee.
It had got so heavy that it was a white out. You couldn’t distinguish the sky from the ground and it became too difficult to see. The boys instructor had also headed for safety and taken them back to the ski school building.
Their lesson finished slightly early and they also needed warming up with a fantastic hot chocolate with it’s own snow capped mountain of whipped cream.
With the white sky still falling we decided that was it for the day and headed back to the hotel. The boys were in full agreement and ipads became to the go to amusement for the afternoon. I thought that had also been the plan for Amy but within 5 minutes the snoring indicated what she had planned for the afternoon.
As it’s approaching dinner time for the boys now, the snow is still coming down. It’s been an unbelievable snowfall and I would estimate we’ve had close to half a metre in the last two days.
Callan has seized the opportunity along with a load of other kids and as I sit in the bar looking out the window, he is skipping around, making snow angels and joining some others in making an igloo. Harrison has wussed out. He claims he is warm in his bed and happy watching his tablet. He keeps reminding us of this with regular updates from the radio that we have crackling next to us.

Love these! It seems like your having an amazing time and the boys are loving it! We don’t get snow like that these days anymore it’s great the boys can really enjoy it even when they can’t ski!
