China – Day Two
Beijing, China |
Beijing, China
Well last night Rob stayed in, and I went out to eat. The tour manager Nora is treating Rob like a baby, telling him what to eat etc, it’s driving him mad. He’s feeling much better today anyway. We have had an amazing day, we stated off at the Temple of Heaven – but the main temple is closed for refurbishment. A lot of Beijing is closed for refurbishment getting things restored before the 2008 Olympics. At the temple of Heaven we got to see the park surrounding it, and most of the outer structures. We also saw lots of locals doing thier various exercises, from using all sorts of props, swords, ribbons, maracas! Then we went on to Tiannamen Square, and the Forbidden City. The forbidden City just went on and on. Each time I thought we had got to the end gate, we went through and there was more. It’s all fantastic, and all public spaces like these are no-smoking which is great because we got a lot of fresh air. The weather has also been fantastic today, not hot, but beautifully clear.
